Raman - Armstrong Lecture series on Space

Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman (7 November 1888 – 21 November 1970) was an Indian physicist born in the former Madras Province in India, presently the state of Tamil Nadu, who carried out groundbreaking work in the field of light scattering which earned him the Noble Prize for Physics in 1930. He discovered that when light traverses a transparent material, some of the deflected light changes wavelength. This phenomenon, subsequently known as Raman scattering, results from the Raman effect In 1954, India honored him with its highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna.

Neil Alden Armstrong (August 5, 1930 – August 25, 2012) was an American astronaut and aeronautical engineer who was the first person to walk on the Moon. He was also a naval aviator, test pilot and University Professor. In July 1969, Armstrong and Apollo 11 Lunar Module pilot Buzz Aldrin performed the first manned Moon landing and spent two and a half hours outside the spacecraft.
